A: Excel Password Rescuer supports all versions of Microsoft Excel: 97, 2000, XP,2003, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016.

4. Q: What is brute-force attack?

A: This Attack will try all possible characters combinations in the specified Range. The Range is defined by "Range" and "Length" Options. Instructs the program to search password in user-defined character range. You can choose from all capital letters, all small letters, all digits, all special symbols and the space, or all printable (includes all of the above).

 

5. Q: What is brute-force with mask attack?

A: This Attack is useful when you partially remember your forgotten password. For example, if you remember that length of your password was 5 characters and password begins from "A", you can define the mask "A????"(replace the unknown character with ?) and save the time by trying 4 symbols instead of 5. A Password Mask must be defined to use this Attack.

 

6. Q: What’s "Character Set" on Excel Password Rescuer?

A: It is only available to "Brute-force" and "Mask Attack" which instructs the program what characters have been used in the forgotten password and restrict the search area.
a-z, 0-9,A-Z, -_?!@#$... : Select character range from the Predefined Passwords Ranges.
User-defined : You can define your own Character Set for the Brute-Force Attack. Select "User-defined" and enter the Character with your own.
Start from : If you remember the beginning of the password characters, select it and enter the Character.
End at : If you remember the end of the password characters, select it and enter the Character.

 

7. Q: What is "Dictionary Attack"?

A: This is an efficient attack method for recoverring a lost password which is a name or a keyword. Most passwords used by living beings are based on a word or phrase. Performing a dictionary attack by attempting different combinations of cases and variations of words and characters before reverting to a comprehensive brute-force attack allows for considerate time savings shall the attack succeed.

 

8. Q: What is "Smart Attack"?

A: This Attack is suitable for recovering an absolutely unknown password. It will try all possible characters combinations include all printable characters. If you choose this attacking method, character range and mask symbol cannot be defined, user can only define how long of the password in Lenth Option.

 

9. Q: What is the "Program Priority"?

A: Changing Program Priority allows you to control the allocation of processing resources on your computer. By default, all processes are at normal priority.
Idle priority means that Excel Password Rescuer will not interrupt other programs, so attacks will not decrease the performance of other running applications.
High priority means that Excel Password Rescuer will use all available system resources. The performance of other applications will degrade but Excel Password Rescuer will work as fast as possible.

 

10. Q: What if I stop recovering the password?

A: The program will save the recovery progress automatically. And it will run again following that point even if it was suddenly suspended. You can set the period in Auto-save Option. If you set it as 5 minutes, then the program will automatically save the process every 5 minutes. Select the check box "Save project every" to active it.

 

11.Q: What's the difference between the trial version and full version?
